Warrington 2, Shaw Lane 1
Ducks fall at title chasing Warrington Town.
A decision on nine minutes dictated the game as the man in the middle struggled to get to grips with what was going on around him.
A man totally out of his depth, was justified though on giving a penalty when Tyler Williams clashed with a player in the area on six minutes. The mistake was costly as Sean Williams dispatched the spot kick into the bottom corner, despite Ed Wilczynski diving in the right direction.
Just three minutes later utter chaos consumed the referee for an incident off the ball and for whatever reason the referee booked both Kieran Lugsden and Warrington's Gerard Kinsella.
A penalty shout at the other end on 22 minutes was waved away by the referee after Chib Chilaka (Pictured) went to ground under a challenge.
The equalising goal came on 27 minutes from a trademark free-kick by Alex Byrne was delivered into the box from 25-yards. Chilaka put his head on the ball after putting himself ahead of his marker and there was nothing Wales Under-23 keeper Luke Pilling could do. It was a long time coming, but Chilaka finally netted his tenth of the season.
An error by Wilczynski on the half hour mark saw the keeper go into the book. The keeper came out of the box and collided with Rory McKeown and was lucky to only see yellow. Wilczynski made up for the error by making a fantastic save to palm away Sean WIlliams' free-kick.
The whistle happy referee finally lost all control on 31 minutes when he showed Kieran Lugsden a second yellow. Three players went to ground trying to win the ball and the referee made the decision to send of Lugsden. Kelvin Lugsden also went into the book for dissent.
An early goal in the second half put Warrington ahead. A close-range header by McKeown following a cross from the right gave the home side the advantage.
Olly Dyson came close to levelling for a second time on 58 minutes with a move into the box which forced Pilling to palm away the shot, which was then cleared for a corner.
An incident on the hour was missed by the referee when Damian Reeves was elbowed after trying to break free from Jack Higgins, who was sent off at Sheerien Park, and it wasn't until he saw Reeves in a heap that he blew the whistle for the striker to receive treatment.
With a quarter of an hour left the referee made yet another shocking decision. Warrington were on the receiving end this time. McKeown went to ground under a challenge and caught Byrne who in front of the left back. The referee gave the free-kick to Shaw Lane and a straight red for studs showing to McKeown.
Another yellow was brandished to Adam Carden on 79 minutes, despite the home side winning the free-kick and further yellows to Reeves and Dyson added to the card count before the final whistle.
