Ducks Play-off Hopes Alive!
Shaw Lane take it to the final day after three straight wins keeps them chasing the pack in the top five.
A ten minute delay due to the late arrival of a depleted Barwell side disrupted the concentration of both sides in the opening 45 minutes, but on 12 minutes an Alex Byrne cross from the left found bobbled in front Damian Reeves who sliced his shot over from close range.
On 17 minutes a quick throw by Spencer Harris found Byrne on the right who unleashed a stinging shot towards goal. Keeper Liam Castle did well to punch the ball over the crossbar for a corner.
It was then Barwell who had the better of the chances in the first half with Ryan Nesbitt and Mitch Piggon going close.
The breakthrough came on 59 minutes when a superb cross from the left by Gavin Rothery found Reeves at the back stick. The forwards header back across goal found Byrne who scored with a rare headed goal. The linesman gave had no hesitation in saying the ball had crossed the line and the Ducks took the lead.
Despite pushing for the second, it was Barwell who equalised through Ryan Baldwin. It came completely out of the blue on 76 minutes as the forward lifted the ball over the helpless Ed Wilczynski who was expecting more from his defence.
Shaw Lane re-took the lead on 83 minutes after a surging run into the box by David Norris saw his left wing cross fly over Castle and find the head of Godwin Abadaki who scored his third goal in two games.
Three minutes later and substitute Olly Dyson won the ball high up the field on the right and the young wingers ball to fellow sub Chib Chilaka was finished with a thunderous strike to make it 3-1.
There was still enough time for the visitors to make the home side sweat as Jake Warmington made it 3-2 on 89 minutes following a long ball down field after a throw in.
The result means Shaw Lane now go into Saturday's clash with Matlock Town needed a win, and hoping a loss for either Ashton United (plus a nine goal swing in goal difference), Grantham Town or Farsley Celtic to secure themselves a play-off spot.
